1. General information
The subject aims to enable the student to:
Analyse the different dimensions of public and social policies related to migration processes, from a multidisciplinary and systemic perspective, both at a theoretical and applied level.
Design responses to the emerging challenges of a plural and complex society, through the elaboration of public and social policy proposals.
Evaluate the praxis of public and social policies that affect aspects related to population movements and settlements.
2. Learning results

Contextualize public policies: identify the challenges and social problems related to immigration to which the different public policies must respond.

Design public policies in response to the social needs generated by migratory processes.

Elaborate strategies and intervention proposals for the development of public policies on migration issues.

Develop the capacity for exposition, synthesis and the ability to relate concepts.

4. Academic activities
1. Theoretical lectures. Presentation of lectures by teachers, encouraging student participation. Its purpose is to transmit the notions of the subject in a clear, systematic, synthetic and entertaining way. It is also intended to encourage the possibility of students joining the area of knowledge in the future with a view to completing their doctoral thesis.
2. Practical classes. They will include article reading, practical exercises performance, discussions and arguments of social, economic, political and organizational nature, trying to overcome paradoxes and contradictions that emerge from the analysis of migration processes.
5. Assessment system
The student must demonstrate achievement of the intended learning results through the following assessment activities:
1. Individual writing of a research paper or literature review on a topic of the subject (Length: 4.000 words). The topic should be chosen from the proposals offered in class. A grade equal to or higher than 5 is required to pass the individual work.
The following will be valued:
-The structure of the work, as well as the logical and orderly argumentation of the analysis.
-The critical evaluation based on contextual considerations in time and space, among other aspects. The comparative elements with integration plans of nearby social and cultural environments will also be valued.
-The reasoning in the elaboration of proposals, as well as their originality and social viability according to the social and cultural characteristics of the context.
