1. General information
The goal is to acquire knowledge of the territorial organization of Aragon and its factors, through the learning of the specific contents of the subject and the acquisition of skills for the understanding of territorial problems and relations from a geographical perspective. Specific goals: Analyze the physical environment, the population, its settlements, urban structure, economic activities and the bases of land use planning. Understand and explain the study of the region as a complex of natural, cultural and socio-economic relationships and processes. Know the terminology and fundamental concepts of AGR. Handle and interpret statistical, graphical and cartographic sources of information common in the study of the Geography of Aragon. Alignment with the following SDGs: 2, 4, 6, 8, 11 (goals (11.4); 12 (goals 12.2; 12.5); 13 (goals 13.1; 13.2); 15 (goals 15.1; 15.2).
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- Describe and analyze the natural and socioeconomic factors and elements that organize the territorial structure of Aragon argue their interrelationships.
- Apply the concepts, methods and general tools of Geography to the local scale.
- Identify and explain the basic processes of territorial organization in Aragon.
- Locate, select, interpret and evaluate the existing sources of information on the Aragonese territory.
- Recognize and explain the existing territorial imbalances in Aragon.
- Identify, explain and evaluate current territorial development policies and strategies in Aragon.
- To present in public the work commissioned and to participate in the organized debates.
The learning outcomes achieved in this subject are basic for the training of graduates. On the one hand, allows them to gauge their mastery of the concepts and methodologies of the discipline acquired in general subjects prior to taking "Geography of Aragon". On the other hand, the local scale of this subject is very appropriate for students to reflect on the interrelationships between factors and elements that organize the territory, on territorial imbalances and proposals for territorial development.
3. Syllabus
1.- Introduction: introductory aspects of the Geography of Aragon.
2.-The physical environment and natural landscapes: characterization of the components of the natural environment (relief, climate, vegetation, soils, etc.) Factors explaining its spatial distribution. The natural landscapes of the Region.
3.- Population and settlement. Characterization of the Aragonese population (temporal evolution, distribution, structure, etc.)
4.-Economic activities: characterization of production sectors (agriculture, livestock, forestry resources, industry, tertiary activities). Factors explaining its spatial distribution.
5.- Territorial planning and environmental problems in Aragon. Problems and strategies of Territorial Planning in Aragón.
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected results includes the following activities:
Type 1: Master class.
Type 2: Problem solving and case studies.
Type 4: Special practices.
Type 7: Personal study.
Type 8: Assessment tests.
The approach, methodology and evaluation of this guide is prepared to be the same in any teaching scenario
(face-to-face, semi-face-to-face or non-face-to-face).
5. Assessment system
FIRST CALL
Continuous assessment
Test 1. Examination of several questions on the contents of the syllabus (65%).
Test 2. Learning portfolios. Delivery and presentation of practices, elaborated in groups of students. The grade for each practical will be obtained from the average grade of the elaboration and presentation (20% of the final grade).
Test 3. Delivery and presentation of a work that constitutes an approach to the knowledge of the environmental status of Aragon through the analysis of environmental indicators belonging to the System of Environmental Indicators of Aragon.
It will be done in groups of students (15% of the final grade). Students who have not been able to do the practicals in a group will have to do it individually. Assessment criteria: Quality of the contents, management of the information, adequate use of bibliography and formal presentation, originality, synthesis and expressive richness. In order to average the grade of the three tests, students will have to pass them individually.
