1. General information
The subject Fundamentals of Geography provides students with geographic knowledge in the interpretation of facts and historical processes. The subject explains history students to the new fields of analysis of geography, such as regional analysis, territorial diversity, resource distribution, land use and planning, the environment or socioeconomic and territorial dynamics. It also provides students with a series of methodologies, techniques and analytical tools that will allow them to integrate aspects of other social sciences, especially territorial ones, such as those in the field of geography, into their work.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/).
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Goal 17: Alliances to Achieve Objectives.

Acquires the critical capacity to analyse facts and processes that take place in the territory, differentiating the singularities of the different territorial areas and how they can influence historical processes.
Analyses statistical information, performs field work, uses statistical analysis tools, cartographic analysis tools and geographic information technologies, synthesizing and integrating the results.
Understands the complexity of natural factors, resources and political-administrative instances that intervene in the functioning of a territorial system and its application in the analysis of history.
Demonstrates an understanding of the need to work in multidisciplinary teams, using methodologies from other social sciences, mainly geography.
