1. General information
The objective of this subject is for the future teacher of Spanish as a foreign language to be able to take advantage of their knowledge of the linguistic system of Spanish, but adapting it to the particular characteristics of the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language
The purpose of the subject is not to teach or perfect the use of Spanish, but to provide students with the foundations necessary to become a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language. It is necessary for non-native students to have at least a B2 level of Spanish.
2. Learning results
1. Basic training in methodological and didactic issues related to the teaching of E/LE, in particular with the teaching of the grammatical level.
2. Ability to analyse, compare and evaluate methods, techniques and activities for the teaching/learning of the linguistic skills and the grammatical component of Spanish as a foreign language.
3. Ability to select didactic materials and resources for teaching E/LE grammar.
4. Acquisition of the basic resources to organize and program the teaching of grammar in E/LE classes.
3. Syllabus
1. Linguistic theories and grammar of E/LE.
2. Levels of linguistic competence. Content selection. Needs analysis.
3. Phonetics in E/LE. Linguistic variation.
4. Grammar in E/LE. Presentation of the most relevant morphology and syntax problems in the teaching- learning of E/LE. Linguistic variation.
5. The lexicon in E/LE: selection, organization and presentation criteria. The dictionary in the E/LE classroom. Variation linguistic.
6. The linguistic component in the didactic units of ELE: elements and organization of a didactic unit and review practice of models of activities in ELE.
7. Web resources for E/LE.
4. Academic activities
In the theoretical part, fundamental aspects for the training of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language will be discussed, and the knowledge necessary for the student to be able to solve practical questions autonomously will be provided. The reading of works of particular relevance to each of the questions will be recommended.
In the practical part, the following activities will be carried out: analysis of didactic units of E/LE manuals, critical revision of grammatical explanations commonly found in E/LE manuals, proposal of new ways of teaching, production of appropriate activities for the teaching of certain grammatical questions, revision and analysis of the CEFR and the PCIC.
5. Assessment system
First call
a) Continuous assessment system (if applicable):
- A series of assignments will be carried out throughout the term, connected to the topics of the program, which will be evaluated throughout the term. These tasks will be carried out by the students individually and/or in groups.
- The set of these tasks will account for 100% of the final grade, which will be calculated by the sum of the percentages of the grade of all tasks, established by the faculty for each of them. The accuracy of the contents will be valued, as well as and the inclusion of references to the recommended readings. Correct spelling and style will be taken into account.
b) Global assessment test (on the date established in the academic calendar)
- This test consists of a written examination. It consists of theoretical and practical questions that will be used to evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired both in the lectures and in the recommended readings.
- In addition to the degree of correctness in the answers, clarity of exposition, idiomatic correctness and the adequacy to the requirements of the academic language will be evaluated

Identical to the global evaluation test of the first call.
