1. General information
The subejct is taught in the second year of the Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, during the second semester. Starting from the knowledge acquired in the subject Fundamentals of Economics, on the general functioning of the Economy; and from the subject Structure of Communication, on the structure of the local, national and international communication system, this subject focuses on the business world, especially on the communication company.
The main goals of the subject are the knowledge and application of the basic management skills of the company in general, with special emphasis on the communication company, and covering both organisational and marketing aspects.
In addition to the SDGs in Section 6, this subject works on the SDGs 16: Peace, Justice and Strong institutions and 17: Alliances to Achieve goals.
2. Learning results
The learning results derive directly from the acquisition of the following competencies:
- Understand and manage a knowledge base of the company in general, and of the journalistic and communication company in particular, as well as of its functioning in the context of the market economy and the communication market, with indicators: Effectively apply business knowledge to the organizational system of a communication company.
- Understand and manage a knowledge base of market research systems and the role of advertising and audiences, with indicators: Effectively apply knowledge of market, marketing and audiences to the analysis of audiences in the communication market and the reaction of companies.
- Ability to analyze the problems posed by the influence of the economic context on the exercise of the individual's intellectual rights (thought, expression and the right to receive truthful information), with indicators: Apply procedural knowledge to the analysis of media documents with the elaboration of hypotheses about their line and informative purposes.

Teaching-learning methodology: The learning process that has been designed for this subject is based on the following : The methodology proposed in this course is of an active nature: the main protagonists of the classes are the students. On the other hand, a skill of extraordinary importance in the world of communication is also especially encouraged: teamwork. Both in-class practicals and assignments to be prepared and submitted should be carried out in groups of students.
Learning activities to be performed:
1) Class practice: elaboration in groups of the answers to a series of questions related to the topic taught.
2) Final work of the first block: it consists of the elaboration and presentation in groups of a report related to the business world. This activity will also serve for the acquisition of competencies in two other subjects of the Degree: TV News Genres and TV News Production.
3) Final work of the second block: elaboration and presentation of a work in groups. Students have two options:
a) The development of some of the key aspects of the program in different communication companies.

4) Final written test: preparation of an exam at the end of the term. Questions will be both practical and theoreticalin nature.
5. Assessment system
First Call
Global assessment.
1st part) Out of 5 points, mandatory final exam divided into two subjects of equal weighting: (1) organization of companies, (2) Marketing. The questions may be multiple-choice questions, theoretical-practical questions and/or practical exercises. A minimum of 1 point in each of the subjects will be required . It will account for 50% of the grade.
2nd part) Out of 5 points, the student must choose one of the following systems (50% of the grade): Jobs:
Paper T1 (2.5 points): organization of companies.
Paper T2 (2.5 points): marketing.
They may be prepared in groups of no more than six people. These will be debated and discussed in class.
ii) Additional questions in the final exam (5 points). Structure similar to Part 1
In order to pass the subject, the sum of both parts must be equal or higher than 5.
Students must opt for one of the two systems. Students who take the additional questions of the final exam(evaluation ii) are understood to opt for this system.
Second call
Global evaluation test identical to the first one.
