1. General information
Given that Plato is the paradigmatic model of Greek prose in Attic dialect and in the classical period, the study of morphosyntactic structures (both from the morphophonological perspective and within the sentence syntax) makes possible an overall explanation absolutely interesting for the student when deepening their knowledge of the Greek language and society of the time.

1. Ability to adapt the systems of linguistic analysis in their phonic, morphological and syntactic aspects to classical Greek.
2. Knowledge of the diachronic evolution and synchronic status of the Greek language, from its origins to its conformation into Modern Greek.
3. Understanding of Greek literature as a whole from a generic and periodological perspective.
4. Skill in applying modern currents of literary theory to Greek texts according to extrinsic and intrinsic criteria of literature.
5. Essential mastery of the complementary techniques of Greek philology for the comprehensive knowledge of texts.
3. Syllabus
1. Introduction to Plato.
2. Introduction to Plato's literary prose.
3. In-depth study of sentence syntax and verb modes.
4. Academic activities
In view of the theoretical and practical content of the subject, a series of theoretical questions that the student should be able to apply to the translation of the proposed texts will be presented in class.
This application should be designed for both face-to-face and non-face-to-face activities
1. Translation and syntactic commentary of selected Platonic passages for class study.
2. Translation of selected Platonic passages.
3. Reading of the proposed work or works.
5. Assessment system
First call:
Continuous assessment. (In the event that there are less than 25 students enrolled, the teacher in charge may opt for this evaluation system).
Test 1: periodic written exercises consisting of translation with dictionary and commentary of Platonic passages (60% of the grade).
Test 2: translation exercise without dictionary of a selection of Platonic passages, proposed by the teacher (25% of the grade).
Test 3: reading test of a work proposed by the teacher. Reading comprehension and ability to relate concepts and ideas of the work will be assessed (15% of the grade).
Criteria: in the translation exercises, the adequacy of the Greek structures to a correct written expression in Spanish and the accuracy of the commentary will be assessed.
Global assessment
Test 1: written translation exercise with dictionary and commentary of a Platonic text (60% of the grade).
Test 2: translation exercise without dictionary from a selection of Platonic passages proposed by the teacher (25% of the grade).
Test 3: reading test of a work proposed by the teacher. Reading comprehension and ability to relate concepts and ideas of the work will be assessed (15% of the grade).

Second call:
Assessment with the same characteristics as in the first call.
5.1. Academic fraud prevention
The use of unauthorised electronic materials or devices during the assessment may result in immediate exclusion from the examination and a fail mark (a numerical mark of ‘0’ for the assessment).
Furthermore, the lecturer in charge may complete the grade report and submit it to the General Inspectorate of Services, so that it may, where appropriate, consider initiating disciplinary proceedings against the student for academic fraud.
In the case of a continuous assessment exam [continuous assessment cannot continue, unless otherwise specified in the academic guide.]
In the case of a regular or extraordinary exam session, the initiation of disciplinary proceedings will result in the grade ‘pending resolution’ until the proceedings are concluded.
