1. General information
This subject aims to integrate the student in a practical way in the specific teaching profession of their specialty. This Practicum period involves the approach of the Master's students to the classroom in order to know in situ the educational reality; it involves the insertion in the dynamics of the classroom, integrating theory and practice.
It constitutes for the student a continuation, in a practical way, of all the subjects and subjects taken in the Master's program
These internships are an essential period in teacher training because they constitute an ideal situation to appropriate or experience practical knowledge. Likewise, these practices are the ideal terrain to develop reflection.
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
1.- Identify the contents to be worked on in the classroom during the internship period, relating them to the cycle programs and official curricular documents.
2.- Describe the characteristics of the students and of the class, understood as an instructional and social group, the teaching strategies used by the teacher and the main teaching and learning problems encountered by the teacher in their class.
3.- Identify students' learning difficulties, analysing their causes and establishing implications for the teaching process
4.- Design, implement and evaluate didactic sequences that are based on explicit teaching and learning principles and that incorporate elements of didactic innovation and propose improvements based on the analysis of experience
5.- Use expressions and vocabulary specific to the educational field and the corresponding curricular subjects appropriately
3. Syllabus
The academic calendar is the official calendar established by the University of Zaragoza.
The dates of the Practicum are those arranged by the University of Zaragoza and the coordination of the Master.
The schedule of face-to-face sessions and presentation of work will be made explicit before the beginning of the Practicum.
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected results comprises the following activities:
1.- At the internship centre, attendance to classes and meetings established with their tutor. They will attend the corresponding classes of their specialty and observe the work methodology, available materials and the specific development of classes. They will know all the formative levels where subjects of their specialty are taught in the centre and the existing institutional programs in the same.
2.- Design of the materials to be used in the teaching-learning activities to be implemented with the students of their practice centre
3.- Seminars for discussion and debate. Discussion with colleagues in their own specialty regarding the applications of the activities, as well as the materials provided.
4.- Periodic meetings with the teacher and the other students in the group to analyse and discuss the Practicum experience.
5. Assessment system
Given the eminently practical and applied nature of this subject, the evaluation will have several components The student will have to demonstrate that they has achieved the expected learning results through the following assessment activities:
1.-Face-to-face activities that are mandatory and a sine qua non condition for the evaluation of the subject . Stay at the destination centre during the corresponding established period. Implementation of different teaching-learning activities with students, in agreement with the tutor of the educational centre. Attendance to tutorials and work meetings scheduled by the University tutor, the tutor of the centre and/or both.
2.- Final report. Autonomous work activity of the student, of an individual nature, which should include an analysis of the teaching intervention carried out.
The tutor's report will account for 50% of the grade, while the other 50% will be based on the report evaluated by the University tutor. Both grades must be equal to or higher than 5 points to pass the subject.
Continuous assessment
The Quality Assurance Committee of the Master in Teaching Staff, in the meeting of June 24, 2011, agreed that all the Practicum subjects of the different specialties will be subject to article 9.4 of the Regulation of Learning Assessment Standards of the University of Zaragoza (agreement of December 22, 2010). In accordance with the aforementioned point 4:
"Exceptionally, those subjects that, due to their special practical or clinical dimension, and in which students must necessarily demonstrate knowledge or competences in necessarily require students to demonstrate their knowledge or competences in facilities or locations outside the conventional classroom, may be locations outside the conventional classroom, may be evaluated only by the continuous evaluation modality. This exceptionality must be declared by the Quality Assurance Committee of the degree program and must be approved by the Undergraduate Studies Committee the approval of the Undergraduate Studies Committee, applying, in any case, only to the practical dimension of the subject practical dimension of the subject."
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Rules of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will apply to irregularities committed in the assessment tests through academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Rules of Learning Assessment in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
Likewise, students may be summoned to tutor to defend totally or partially any of the evaluation tests submitted in order to guarantee original authorship and participation in all of them.
