1. General information
The subject, which is mandatory in the defence profile of the degree, allows the future officer to become familiar with the complex reality of international interactions in today's globalized world, and especially with the role of the Spanish Armed Forces in international missions.
Likewise, throughout the subject, the topics will be linked to international events as they occur, as well as to other subjects, such as Current World and Law, in order to integrate the analysis of current events with their historical and geopolitical background.
The approach, methodology and evaluation of this guide are prepared to be the same in any teaching scenario.
They will be adjusted to the socio-sanitary conditions of each moment, as well as to the indications given by the competent authorities.
2. Learning results
-1 Identify the main Political Theories of International Relations and the foundations of the Alliance of Civilizations.
-2 Know the organization and functioning of the Administration in international matters, treaties and diplomacy.
-3 Know the evolution and functioning of the International Organizations and multinational military units in which Spain participates
-4 Have the capacity to integrate into their military structures.
-5 Analyse the legal framework within which international missions are developed.

4. Academic activities
- Expository developments by the teacher, with a complementary and never exclusive character.
- Collaborative learning, using for this purpose (especially but not exclusively) research papers (instrument for continuous evaluation 1)
- Analysis and commentary of current cases, using for this purpose (especially but not exclusively) the information provided by the students and the teacher.
- Work under the seminar format, providing students with the necessary readings prior to class.
5. Assessment system
The student will be able to pass the total of the subject by the continuous assessment procedure. The instruments of continuous evaluation are the following:
- Continuous evaluation instrument 1: Group research work on a topic related to the topics of the subject
The work itself will be evaluated (20% of the continuous evaluation grade) and the individual presentation of the work by each participant (20% of the continuous evaluation grade).
-Continuous evaluation instrument 2: two written tests, corresponding to the first and second part of the syllabus, each of which counts for 30% of the continuous evaluation grade.
In order to pass the subject, it is required to have at least 5 points in the general weighted average of the continuous evaluation instruments and at least 5 points in the average of the written tests.
First call
Students who do not pass the subject by continuous evaluation or who want to improve their grade will have the right to sit for the exam of the first call on the date set in the academic calendar. The evaluation of the first call will consist of the following instruments:
- In any case, a global written test consisting of several questions on the entire syllabus of the subject and that computes 60% of the grade. If the average grade of the written tests of continuous evaluation is higher than the grade of the overall written test of the call, the grade of the written tests of continuous evaluation will be respected.
- Voluntarily, a written analysis paper expanding on the group research work developed during the term. If the average grade of the group work and its presentation during the continuous evaluation is higher than the grade of the work presented in the call, that grade will be respected.
In order to pass the subject, the student must obtain a grade higher or equal to 5 in the overall written test and an average higher or equal to 5 in the weighted average between the overall written test (60%) and the group research work and its presentation carried out during the continuous evaluation or, if applicable, the voluntary analysis work mentioned above (40%).
Second and subsequent calls
Students who do not pass the subject in the first call will have the right to sit for the evaluation of the second and successive calls on the date established in the academic calendar The evaluation of the second and successive calls will be governed by the rules established for the first call.
