1. General information
The objective of the subject is that students obtain a functional tool that allows them to advance in subjects of the specialty of Electrical Industrial Engineering.
The student needs to have a series of previous knowledge for a correct learning of the subject. Above all, the student needs a good basis of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, as well as Mathematics (I and II) and Electromagnetism (Physics II).
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- Understands the principles of circuit theory and has the ability to apply them to the analysis of complex electrical circuits.
- Has the ability to identify, classify and describe the behavior of electrical systems and components through the use of analytical methods and modeling techniques of circuit theory.
- Has the ability to apply quantitative methods and computer programs to the analysis of circuits to solve engineering problems.
- Understands and knows how to apply system approaches to engineering problems related to electrical circuits.
3. Syllabus
The program of the subject is structured in four thematic blocks:
- Three-phase systems
- Power in electrical systems
- Quadcopters
- Electrical circuits in transient regime
- Distributed parameter systems
4. Academic activities
The teaching process will be developed in three main levels: theory classes, problems and laboratory, with increasing level of student participation. In the theory classes, the fundamentals of Circuit Theory will be presented, and illustrated with numerous examples. In the problem classes, problems and case studies will be developed with active student participation . Laboratory practices will be developed in small groups, where the student will put into practice the knowledge exposed in the theory classes and problems to contribute to assimilate these concepts.
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected outcomes comprises the following activities:
Lectures (30 horas)
Sessions of exposition and explanation of contents. The concepts and fundamentals of electrical circuit analysis will be presented and illustrated with real examples. Student participation will be encouraged through questions and brief discussions.
Practical classes of problems (15 hours)
Problems and cases will be developed with the participation of the students, coordinated at all times with the theoretical contents. The student will be encouraged to work on the problems in advance. Part of these hours may be dedicated to the evaluable learning activities specified in each term.
Laboratory (15 hours)
The student will calculate, simulate, assemble and test the operation of electrical circuits in the laboratory.
You will have a script of the practice, which you will have to prepare in advance. A portion of these hours may be dedicated to the evaluable learning activities specified in each term.
Other evaluable activities.
They will consist of personal work of the student together with practical class work, problems and laboratory work.
Assessment
In addition to the grading function, the assessment is also a learning tool with which the learner checks the degree of understanding and assimilation they have achieved.
Tutoring.
Direct attention to the student, identification of learning problems, orientation in the subject, attention to exercises and assignments.
Supervised work (27 hours).
Periodically, students will have to develop exercises and cases on their own. These can be obtained at Anillo Digital Docente (http://moodle.unizar.es). This section also includes the preparation of the practices of laboratory and additional activities.
Individual study (60 hours).
The continuous work of the student will be encouraged through the homogeneous distribution throughout the semester of the different learning activities.
5. Assessment system
The student must demonstrate that they have achieved the intended learning results through the following assessment activities:
The evaluation of the subject will be of a global nature and will include the following activities:
1. Practices (10%)
Practices will be evaluated at their end. Previous preparation for each of the practices, initiative and participation in them will be valued.
The grade for this activity will be from 0 to 10 points and will represent 10% of the overall grade. The student who does not perform a practice, unless there is a justified cause, in the scheduled shift and time, will have a grade of 0 in it.
In order to pass the subject it is necessary to obtain a minimum score of 4 points out of 10 in each of the practices.
2. Assignments and evaluable activities (25%)
In order to encourage continuous work, throughout the subject some work will be assigned, mainly theoretical-practical problems, which will be handed in to the teacher for assessment.
The grade for this activity will be from 0 to 10 points and will represent 25% of the student's overall grade.
3. Final Exam (65%)
Generally composed of theoretical and practical issues. There will be a written exam at each official convocation, with a maximum duration of three hours.
The grade for this activity will be from 0 to 10 points and will represent 65% of the student's overall grade.
A minimum score of 4 out of 10 is required to pass the subject.
4. Substitute assessment for laboratory practices (10%)
Those students who have not passed the practices during the teaching period may opt for an assessment by means of a practical exam, which will also account for 10% of the overall grade. The minimum score of in this section required to pass the course will also be 4 out of 10.
5. Additional substitute assessment of evaluable works (25%)
Those students who have not passed the work and evaluable activities in the teaching period may opt for an assessment of the same by means of a practical exam, which will also represent 25% of the overall grade.
The grade for this activity will be from 0 to 10 points. The minimum score for this section is 4 points out of 10.
Final grade of the subject
In order to pass the subject, it is necessary to obtain a final grade equal to or higher than 5 points. The final grade is composed of: Final Grade =0.65*(Final exam)+0.1*(Laboratory practicals)+0.25*(Evaluated work)
