1. General information
The main objective of this subject is that students acquire the skills to critically analyse a curricular design for the teaching-learning of English as a Foreign Language, as well as to act with respect to their own teaching action from different perspectives of innovation and research, and to make proposals for improvement from observation, research and/or teaching innovation in English classrooms. These aspects should be reflected in a Master's Final Project, a compendium of the training acquired throughout all the teachings described.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), so that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: 4 Quality Education (more specifically, with objective 4.1. Ensure quality primary and secondary education and 4C Improve teacher qualifications); Goal 5 Gender equality; and Goal 10 Reducing inequalities.
It is recommended that students possess a level of general oral and written proficiency of at least C1 according to the Common Frame of Reference descriptors, as well as a high level of academic discourse In addition, in order to develop their work at the internship center in an optimal way, it is essential that the student has a general oral and written proficiency level in Spanish of at least C1.
2. Learning results
1. Identify the contents to be worked on in the classroom during the internship period, relating them to the programs of the cycle and to the official curricular documents.
2. Describe the characteristics of the students and of the class, understood as a formative and social group, the didactic strategies used by the teacher and the main teaching-learning problems they encounters in their class
3. Identify students' learning difficulties, analysing their causes and establishing implications for the teaching process.
4. Design, implement and evaluate didactic sequences that are based on explicit principles of teaching and learning and that incorporate elements of didactic innovation, and propose improvements based on the analysis of the experience.
5. Adequately use the expressions and vocabulary specific to the educational field and the corresponding curricular subjects.

4. Academic activities
The learning process designed for this subject is based on the following:
- Participatory attendance at the secondary school
- Attendance at faculty mentor meetings
- Observation of the dynamics of the secondary school
- Contact of the Master's students with the teachers and other educational agents to get information about the functioning and materials to achieve the results and competencies set, as well as the evaluation
- Support to the tutor in the different teaching and tutoring tasks
- Reading documentation and reference bibliography
- Observation and critical analysis of the techniques and procedures used to organize and manage activities and promote English language learning
- Critical analysis of the curricular design of the subjects of the specialty, starting from the principles of learning and methodologies that guide these designs
- Review and critical analysis of materials, activities and resources used for foreign language teaching Adaptation, design and development of materials and activities for implementation in the center
- Teaching practice through the implementation of English language teaching activities in one or more of the classes in which the school tutor teaches the subject
Academic activities: Individual and group tutoring with the University tutor. Reading of specific bibliography and regulations . Design of didactic materials and sequences. Attendance and active participation in the internship center.
Observation of classroom interaction and investigation of the context. Implementation of didactic activities and sequences.
Supervision and tutoring by the Internship Center tutor.

Types of tests
The student must demonstrate that they have achieved the intended learning results through the following assessment activities:
Elaboration of a portfolio where two learning activities are collected:
Activity 1. Research: observation and critical analysis of classroom interaction in English as a Foreign Language.
Activity 2. Implementation: critical commentary on the materials implemented by students in internships and reflection on their implementation.
The specifications of the portfolio and the tools necessary for its elaboration will be provided at the beginning of the term through of Moodle. As a guideline, the document should be between 15 and 20 pages long (not including annexes); font size Arial 10, with 1.5 line spacing, justified text and 2.5 cm margins.
Assessment criteria
It is mandatory to attend the group tutorials scheduled by the faculty tutor.
Criteria for evaluating the portfolio:
- Ability to identify and describe, as well as interpret and evaluate key aspects of foreign language teaching, using appropriate terminology, making use of theories and concepts relevant to the design and implementation of learning activities, and demonstrating an understanding of them
- Ability to evaluate, in a systematic and informed way, key aspects of foreign language teaching in terms of their effectiveness on the learning process
- Ability to suggest improvements in the teaching-learning process in light of the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of these aspects
- Critical and sufficient knowledge of the context (of the center and of the students) and of the legal and regulatory framework.
- Collection and use of relevant data on the aspects to be assessed
- Academic quality: discourse organization, formal correctness, adequate use of primary and secondary sources, citations and references.
The weighted evaluation criteria for each of the portfolio activities will be provided at the beginning of the term through Moodle
In case of reasonable doubt about the authorship of the portfolio, the student may be required to make an oral defence before the tutor. Any portfolio in which any type of plagiarism is detected (paraphrases of, comments inspired by, or direct reproduction of ideas or theories that are not one's own without proper referencing) will be automatically considered failed.
Fraud or total or partial plagiarism in any of the evaluation tests will result in the failure of the course with the minimum grade, in addition to the disciplinary sanctions that the guarantee committee adopts for these cases. Levels of demand (Grading criteria and requirements to pass the subject)
The student's activities in the internship center (performance of his/her duties and his/her intervention in the classroom) account for 50% of the grade. These activities will be assessed by the collaborating teacher at the center. The specific evaluation criteria to be used by the collaborating teacher at the center will be provided at the beginning of the term through Moodle. In turn, the portfolio accounts for the other 50% of the student's overall grade and will be evaluated by the faculty tutor, for which will also take into account the participation and involvement in the group tutoring sessions. It is an indispensable requirement that the student obtains a minimum of 5 in the portfolio in order to pass the subject.
On the other hand, the student must obtain at least a 5 in each of the two portfolio activities.
Fifth and sixth calls
It will coincide with the global test described in the previous section.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Norms of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will be applicable to the irregularities committed in the evaluation tests by means of academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Norms of Evaluation of Learning in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
