1. General information
The subject responds to the following approaches and goals:
The main goal of this subject is for students to consolidate and expand their existing skills, to improve their written and oral comprehension and expression, and to acquire more fluency and confidence in oral expression. All accompanied by the acquisition of a more specific vocabulary related to the tourism field.
In addition, the student should become familiar with situations that require public speaking, presenting a product to a customer, etc.
These approaches and goals are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (4, 5, 8, 9, 13) in such away that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement.
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- Make commercial presentations of a tourist service or product for promotional purposes - Identify sociocultural aspects and differences in the field of tourism
- Discuss professional information and experience
- Understand and handle different types of texts (oral and written) in English
- Mastering grammar
- Show fluency, correctness and confidence in oral and written expression in English
- Master the basic specific vocabulary of the English language used in the tourism and business fields

4. Academic activities
The program offers the students help to achieve the expected results and comprises the following activities:
Theoretical classes in the classroom: Explanation of concepts and completion of tasks related to vocabulary, grammar and reading and listening comprehension.
Practical classes in the classroom: Completion of written and oral assignments (projects, presentations, etc.).
Tutoring: Personalized attention to the student for the resolution of doubts or questions related to the subject.

5. Assessment system
Continuous Assessment:
1. Written and oral activities in class: 20%
2. Written examination: 50%
3. Oral examination: 30%
In order to participate in the continuous assessment, the student must attend a minimum of 80% of the classes. For to be able to average, the student must obtain a minimum of 4.5 (out of 10) in the two parts, the written part and the oral part.
Global Assessment:
1. Written examination: 60%
2. Oral examination: 40%
In order to obtain an average, the student must obtain a minimum of 5 (out of 10) in the two parts, the written part and the oral part.
