1. General information
The goal of the subject is that the student knows the basic concepts of Economics and understands that economic phenomena are part of a complex whole, in which each of the parts that compose it is related to reality. The knowledge acquired prepares the student to take Labor Economics in the second year.
The contents of this subject are connected to the following Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 5: Gender equality.

2. Learning results
Students are expected to be able to:
1. List, define and differentiate the basic concepts of economics (scarcity, demand, supply, elasticity, product,
inflation, etc.)
2. Understand the main economic theories and the functioning of the economic system.
3. Apply the tools of economic analysis.
4. Analyze Labor Relations from an economic perspective.
5. Discover, classify and synthesize economic concepts contained in texts and technical reports and elaborate papers
in which economic concepts and arguments are developed in a clear and precise manner

Unit 1: The Economy
Unit 2: Consumer decisions: demand
Unit 3: Producers' decisions: supply
Unit 4: The functioning of the markets.
Unit 5: The economic conduct of the State
Unit 6: Economic growth and sustainable development
Unit 7: Price changes and inflation
Unit 8: General aspects of the labor market
Unit 9: Macroeconomic policies
4. Academic activities
The academic activities are divided into:
1. Theory:
- Presentation of theoretical concepts by the professor.
- Commentary and classroom discussion of the theoretical concepts presented.
2. Practical classes:
- Resolution of problems and theoretical-practical cases related to the theory.
- Commentary of economic texts.
- Discussion and analysis of economic news proposed by the teacher and/or students.
- Debates on current economic issues.
- Viewing or attending lectures and subsequent discussion.
3. Student's autonomous work for:
- Complement the theoretical explanations with the bibliography.
- Prepare some practical activities according to the time allotment assigned to T6.
5. Assessment system
A) Students who regularly attend academic activities:
1.- Completion of a theoretical test (Test) (60% of the grade).
2.- Written resolution of two practical cases (40% of the grade).
- It is understood that a student has regularly attended the academic activities if he/she has at least 60% of the attendance controls made in the classes.
- Failure to take any of these tests implies waiving this assessment system.
- The student will not pass the subject:
- If the theoretical test score is less than 4.0 out of 10.
- If the average grade for the case studies is less than 4.0 out of 10.
- In order to pass the subject, the weighted average of the grades of the activities must be at least 5.0 out of 10.
B) Students who do not regularly attend the academic activities, or who do not pass the subejct through the previous system:
1. Completion of a written test(NO TEST), on a date to be established.
This test will cover 100% of the theoretical and practical contents of the subject and its grade will represent 100% of the final grade. To pass the subject, the student must obtain at least a grade of 5.0 out of 10.
