1. General information
The specific objective is for the student to know the so-called territories of cultural history, the themes that have marked the historical evolution in recent decades and the debates that have been raised.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations ( 2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/),

2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, students must demonstrate the following learning results:
Define and understand the main historiographical currents and the different historical sources related to cultural history and its historical evolution.
Value the historiographic texts on which the progress of cultural history is based.
Recognize and evaluate the influence of other related disciplines in cultural history.
Select and apply methods of study and bibliographic and archival tools in this field of historiography.
3. Syllabus
1. Classical Cultural History. Burckhardt, Huizinga, and the first steps of Cultural History.
2. Revolutionary ruptures and mentalities. French cultural history in the orbit of Annales.
3. Cultural History in the United Kingdom and British Marxists.
4. Microhistory.
5. The fields of the New Cultural History: Postcolonialism, women's cultural history, history of the body, history of violence, history of emotions, history of everyday life, history of material culture, history of reading.
6. The latest trends in Cultural History: an approach to globalization.
4. Academic activities
- Classroom lecture (explanation of the essential contents of the subject), with a dedication of 1.5 ECTS: 37.5 hours.
- Readings and personal work of the student, with a dedication of 3.3 ECTS. 82.5 hours.
- Group face-to-face practices (text commentaries, debate enhancement), with a dedication of 0.6 ECTS: 15 hours.
- Tutorials, with a dedication of 0.4 ECTS: 10.5 hours.
- Assessment, with a dedication of 0.2 ECTS credits: 4.5 hours.
5. Assessment system
First call.
a) Continuous assessment system (to be considered in the case of an enrolment of no more than 25 students).
Test 1. Essay or paper. Value: 30% of the final grade.
Test 2. Practices and active participation in practical classes including the delivery of written texts by the student. Value: 20% of the final grade.
Test 3. Written and/or oral exam(s). Value: 50% of the final grade.
b) Global assessment test (to be held on the date established in the academic calendar).
Characteristics:
-Written exam on the subject´s syllabus. It will consist of two essay questions, one of which is to be chosen, and five short questions with short and concise answers. Value: 85% of the final grade.
-Delivery of two practices reports. Value: 15% of the final grade.
Second Call.
Global evaluation test (to be taken on the date established in the academic calendar).
Characteristics:
-Written exam on the subject´s syllabus. It will consist of two essay questions, one of which is to be chosen, and five short questions with short and concise answers. Value: 85% of the final grade.
-Delivery of two practices reports. Value: 15% of the final grade.
