The main objective of this subject is for the student to learn: the main theoretical contributions and research methods that Sociology applies to the study of modern society and the most important collective phenomena; analysis of emblematic issues of modern society that are at the origin of important controversies (crisis of the family, deviant behaviour, school as a promoter of social change, social inequality, the role of the mass media, the crisis of politics, etc.); sociological understanding to economic analyses, bearing in mind that society is a context that economics inevitably needs to know well, both in times of prosperity and in times of crisis.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in particular, the activities planned in the subject will contribute to the achievement of the following goals: end poverty, health and well-being, gender equality and reduction of inequalities.
