1. General information
The Degree Final Project (DFP) is a transversal subject oriented to the evaluation of competences associated to the degree, whose activity will be associated to one or several subjects of the Study Plan.
The DFP involves the realization by the student, individually, of a project, report or original study under the supervision of one or more directors, which integrates and develops the training content received, skills and abilities acquired during the teaching period of the degree.
This approach is aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda2030 () (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), so that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject will contribute to the achievement of Goals 3 and 4.
2. Learning results
- Be competent to use clinical and biomedical information sources and technologies.
- Understand and critically interpret scientific texts.
- Propose strategies and work plans in research, in the resolution of complex cases or in the updating of information on biomedical problems.
- Design and conduct simple statistical studies appropriate to meet the research objectives.
- Make an oral and written presentation of an original scientific work or a professional report, using the appropriate information and communication technologies.
3. Syllabus
The DFP modalities will be:
- Research work (offered by the Departments).
- Bibliographic review and research work.
- Analysis of a complex clinical case.
- Presentation of a previous publication of the student in an indexed scientific journal.
- Joint presentation of communications to scientific congresses of the student: One international and one national communication, or three national communications.
Work using personal or health data, or using biological samples of human origin, is subject to prior approval by a research ethics committee (CEICA in Aragón). The self-evaluation procedure established shall be carried out before starting the work.
4. Academic activities
- Academic supervision: The DFP will be carried out under the supervision of a doctoral teacher belonging to one of the Areas of Knowledge of the Degree, who will authorize the presentation and defence of the work. In the tutorials, they will carry out the planning of the work, monitoring and final review, ensuring that the DFP meets the appropriate formal, theoretical and technical requirements.
- UZ virtual course: Guide of tools and guidelines for a good DFP. Aimed at enrolled students.
- Training sessions on information sources and bibliographic managers given by Library staff.
5. Assessment system
It would be desirable to have passed the 300 credits corresponding to the first five years. To assess the DFP, it is necessary to have passed 354 credits of the Degree.
The student will send to the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine by electronic registration (regtel.unizar.es) the request for defence of the DFP, the report in pdf format and the proof of the repository Deposita. The director will send to the Secretariat of the centre the authorization for its defence.
REPORT STRUCTURE
-Title page with title in English and Spanish and identification of the student and director.
-Paginated table of contents.
-Summaries in English and Spanish (350 words each) and keywords
-Structured content and bibliographic references.
-The length of the paper shall not exceed 35 pages or 15,000 words.
PUBLIC EVALUATION
The student will have 15 minutes for the presentation and another 15 minutes to answer questions from the board
Assessment criteria:
- Report characteristics (60%).
- Oral presentation and defence of the work (40%).
One “Honour” may be awarded per board of examiners
In grades lower than 5, the board will point out the defects and their correction for a new defence.
Each board will evaluate several DFPs, and its members may not include the director of any work evaluated by the board of examiners.
The participation in the board will be compulsory for all the teachers who teach in the Degree and will be constituted by three full members of the medical, surgical and basic areas chosen by lot for each academic year and appointed by the Direction of the Centre.
