1. General information
The subject seeks to develop teaching planning skills, focusing on learning and teaching processes such as curriculum design, analysis of needs and motivations, teaching strategies, group work and self-learning. We also plan class hours, didactic units and courses in English as a foreign language or in other subjects in English in primary education. The goals are aligned with the SDGs "Quality Education" and "Gender Equality". English proficiency at least at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required for to take the subject.
2. Learning results
1. Know the history of English teaching and learning methodology and to apply different methodological currentsin curriculum design.
2. Know and understand the contents of the Aragonese Curriculum and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
3. Knowing how to organise and structure class hours, didactic units and courses in a progressive and sequenced manner and taking into account the goals set, the material and time constraints of the courses, the cognitive abilities of primary school pupils and their different intelligences and motivations, integrating the four language skills within a communicative framework of teaching and learning.
4. Design in writing the planning of class hours, didactic units and entire courses, gathering all the aspects involved in the teaching and learning process.
5. To critically evaluate their own experience and practice as teachers, as well as to find and apply bibliography and resources that contribute to their training and improvement
In turn, you will have developed the basic competences CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4 and CB5; general, CG01, CG02, CG03, CG04, CG07, CG08, CG09, CG10, CG11, CG12 and CG13, CG07, CG08, CG09, CG10, CG11, CG12 and CG13; transversal, CT01, CT02, CT03, CT04, CT05, CT06, CT07, CT08, CT09; and specific, CE51, CE52, CE53, as stated in the Degree Verification Report.
3. Syllabus
1. Introduction: some key concepts and terms.
2. Historical approaches to syllabus and curriculum design.
3. The Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment and the Currículo Aragonés de Educación Primaria.
4. Designing goals. Understanding and developing competences.
5. Planning for multiple intelligences and different learning styles. Understanding motivation.
6. Planning individual lessons, units of work and courses. Project-Based Learning.
7. Planning for bilingual education: CLIL.
9. Planning teacher and learners' roles, correcting and feedback.
10. Cooperative learning.
11. The use of ICT in the classroom.
12. Assessment.
13- The use of portfolios.
14- Evaluating teaching.
4. Academic activities
In this subject, the teaching-learning process is developed in the following types of activities: lectures, practical classes, directed work, individual study and evaluation tests.
The subject has a four-month duration. The schedule corresponding to the theoretical and practical sessions of the subject will be established by each of the Centers. The schedule for submission of papers will be agreed with the students at beginning of the teaching period.
The information regarding the activities corresponding to this subject is provided in the classroom, as well as on the web page of the subject in the Virtual Campus of the University of Zaragoza. The dates corresponding to the official calls will be posted on the web page of each Center at.
5. Assessment system
The subject will be assessed in two ways: Mode A, continuous, which includes the presentation throughout the course of essays, individual and/or group work and work applying the contents and a final exam, with a proportion in the final mark of 50% between the exam and the work, and Mode B, which consists of a final exam and the delivery of an original didactic unit with its defence, with a proportionin the final mark of 50% between the exam and the didactic unit. In both modalities require a minimum score of 40% in each evaluation activity to pass the course, and you can opt for Modality B even if you have carried out the activities of the Modality A. In the second call, only the grades obtained during that call will be considered, and in the fifth and sixth call, will maintain the same requirements as in the ordinary calls. The evaluation activities will take into account theoretical knowledge, the appropriate application of the contents and the adequate use of the English language at B2 level. Plagiarism in whole or in part will result in suspension and disciplinary sanctions.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Norms of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will be applicable to the irregularities committed in the evaluation tests through academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Norms of Evaluation of Learning in relation to the irregular practices other than academic fraud academic fraud.
