1. General information
The goal of the subjectis to introduce students to the study and practice of Catalan, essentially in everyday situations , in order to develop elementary skills in oral and written communication in this language. It also offers knowledge about the culture of the Catalan-speaking world.
These approaches and goals are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/ ), so that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: - Goal 4: Quality Education.
Goal 5: Gender Equality.
Goal 10: Reduction of Inequalities
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong institutions
Goal 17: Alliances to Achieve goals.
2. Learning results
1. Ability to communicate orally at an elementary level in Catalan.
2. Ability to communicate in written form at an elementary level in Catalan.
3. Ability to identify the nature, purpose and structure of simple documents written in Catalan.
4. Ability to understand very simple oral texts in Catalan.
5. Ability to understand very simple written texts in Catalan.
6. Ability to synthesize, transfer and exchange elementary written information in Catalan.
7. Ability to synthesize, transfer and exchange elementary information orally in Catalan.
8. Ability to write in Catalan simple expressions and phrases specific to their specialty.
3. Syllabus
A/ Functional issues: a) Personal information; b) Locations (of people and places); c) Actions, activities and events;
B/ Grammatical issues: a) Phonetic aspects of vowels and consonants and their impact on spelling; b) The orthographic signs. Accentuation. Dieresis; c) Gender and number of nouns and adjectives; d) Demonstratives and possessives; e) Personal pronouns (general questions); f) Aspects of the verb (conjugations, verbs with inchoativeinfix , periphrastic perfect); g) Use of prepositions.
4. Academic activities
The planned methodological approach is oriented towards learning the phonetic-phonological, lexical-grammatical and discursive aspects necessary to begin to understand and produce oral and written Catalan, following the principles of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which considers language learners as social agents , members of a society in which they carry out specific tasks in a specific environment. The tasks, based on the goals of the subject, will be carried out individually and in groups, so that students acquire, through contextualized practices, the skills that will allow them to act in real life.
5. Assessment system
FIRST CALL
Continuous assessment system.
a) Individual work by assignments (30% of the final grade).
b) Written test (50% of the final grade).
c) Oral test (20% of the final grade).
Assessment criteria: in all cases, the ability to express oneself (orally and in writing), the level of comprehension, the correctness in the use of grammatical structures and the use of the acquired vocabulary will be assessed
The total value of the set of tests, as well as that of each one of them, is 10 points and will be passed with a minimum of 5 points
Global assessment test.
a) Written test (80% of the final grade).
b) Oral test (20% of the final grade).
Assessment criteria: in all cases, the ability to express oneself (orally and in writing), the level of comprehension, the correctness in the use of grammatical structures and the use of the acquired vocabulary will be assessed
The total value of the set of tests, as well as that of each one of them, is 10 points and will be passed with a minimum of 5 points
SECOND CALL
Global assessment test: identical to that of the first call.
