1.1. Aims of the course
This module and its expected results respond to the following approaches and objectives:
To familiarize the student with one of the work centers related to Biotechnology, whether in the business, academic or research environment.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the results of learning of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: Goal 2 Zero Hunger, Goal 3 Health and well-being and Goal 4 Quality education.
1.2. Context and importance of this course in the degree
The intership will serve the student to know first hand some of the possible work environments in which they will be able to carry out their activity once they graduate.
1.3. Recommendations to take this course
It is a requirement to have passed at least 150 ECTS credits of the degree.
However, internships can be carried out with a total of 90 credits passed, and independently carry out the validation later.
2.1. Competences
The student will be more competent to:
Integrate transversal knowledge, skills and competences of all kinds acquired throughout the degree.
Apply the knowledge acquired in a non-academic environment.
Collaborate with other professionals and develop teamwork.
2.2. Learning goals
The student, to pass this subject, must demonstrate the following results:
Achievement of partial objectives set by the tutor for each specific job.
Adaptation to the schedule and the proposed work plan.
Knowledge of the environment in which the intership has been carried out.
Preparation of reports with sufficient scientific quality.
2.3. Importance of learning goals
The intership will allow the student to contact the reality of Biotechnology in the environment in which they are carried out, being very useful for their professional future.
3. Assessment (1st and 2nd call)
3.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria)
The students must demonstrate that they have achieved the expected learning outcomes through the following assessment activities:
-Report of the tutor in the collaborating entity
The tutor of the collaborating entity will send a report on the supervised student to the academic tutor, in which the number of hours dedicated by the student will be collected and in which the following aspects of the work carried out by the student will be assessed:
a) Technical capacity.
b) Ability to learn.
c) Work administration.
d) Oral and written communication skills.
e) Sense of responsibility.
f) Ease of adaptation.
g) Creativity and initiative.
h) Personal involvement.
i) Motivation.
j) Responsiveness to criticism.
k) Punctuality.
l) Relations with your work environment.
-The academic tutor will meet periodically with the student during the period of the practice, at least twice:
a) An initial meeting to discuss the training project that the student must develop
b) A final meeting to deliver a final memory of the practice, exposing the activities carried out and the conclusions obtained.
The memory format is available on the website of the Faculty of Sciences, and must be validated by the tutors. From this information, the academic tutor will prepare a report and send all the information to the coordinator of the module.
The coordinator of the module will evaluate each practice based on the information received as PASS or NOT PASS. Obtaining the PASS qualification will enable their academic recognition.
4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources
4.1. Methodological overview
The learning process t is based on the following:
The intership are activities of a formative nature carried out by the students in collaborating entities (companies, institutions and public or private entities) at the national and international level, or at the University of Zaragoza itself.
4.2. Learning tasks
The program offered to the student to help him achieve the expected results includes the following activities:
Completion of a job related to Biotechnology supervised by a tutor at the institution where the practice is carried out and an academic tutor at the University of Zaragoza.
Preparation of a written report with advice from the tutors and endorsed by the coordinator of the module.
4.3. Syllabus
In this module there is no fixed program to develop, only that the stay must be related to the degree and provides the student with some type of experience that enriches the training.
4.4. Course planning and calendar
Internships can be carried out at any time, provided the student meets the requirements indicated, and their recognition must be requested in the 4th year of the degree.
It is recommended that they be carried out in summer, so as not to interfere with the development of the rest of the teaching
