1.1. Aims of the course
The course and its expected results respond to the following approaches and objectives: It is a guided professional practice (assistance and/or administration and/or management), carried out in clinics intra-hospital, out-of-hospital, primary and community care, social health centers and other areas. Its main objective is for the student to demonstrate the acquisition of the necessary professional skills (knowing, knowing how to be, knowing how to do and knowing how to be) to be able to integrate into the labor market with guarantees of success. These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning outcomes of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to the achievement of objective 3 (health and well-being).
1.2. Context and importance of this course in the degree
Through this subject the student begins the acquisition of the appropriate clinical experience that provides intellectual abilities and technical and manual skills, that facilitates the incorporation of ethical and professional values and that develops the ability to integrate the knowledge acquired in such a way that, at the end of the studies, students know how to apply it both to specific clinical cases in the hospital and out-of-hospital environment, as well as to actions in the primary and community care. This subject continues in the fourth year, with the Practicum II subject.
1.3. Recommendations to take this course
The requirements established in the regulations of permanence in Degree Studies of the University of Saragossa.
2.1. Competences
COMPETENCES THAT THE STUDENTS MUST HAVE ACQUIRED FOR THE OBTAINING THE DEGREE (Section 3. Order CIN/2135/2008 of July 3).
1. Know and understand the morphology, physiology, pathology and behavior of people, both healthy and sick, in the natural and social environment.
2. Know and understand the sciences, models, techniques and instruments on which it is based, articulated and develop physiotherapy.
3. Know and understand the physiotherapeutic methods, procedures and actions, aimed at both therapeutic itself to be applied in the clinic for reeducation or functional recovery, such as carrying out activities aimed at promoting and maintaining health.
4. Acquire the appropriate clinical experience that provides intellectual abilities and technical and manual skills; that facilitate the incorporation of ethical and professional values; and that develops the ability to integrate knowledge acquired; so that, at the end of the studies, students know how to apply them both to specific clinical cases in the hospital and outpatient environment, as well as actions in primary and community care.
5. Assess the functional status of the patient, considering the physical, psychological and social aspects.
6. Diagnostic assessment of physiotherapy care according to standards and with recognized validation instruments internationally.
7. Design the physiotherapy intervention plan according to criteria of adequacy, validity and efficiency.
8. Execute, direct and coordinate the physiotherapy intervention plan, using their own therapeutic tools and according to the individuality of the user.
9. Evaluate the evolution of the results obtained with the treatment in relation to the objectives set.
10. Prepare the discharge report for physiotherapy care once the proposed objectives have been met.
11. Provide effective physiotherapy care, providing comprehensive assistance to patients.
12. Intervene in the areas of health promotion, prevention, protection and recovery.
13. Know how to work in professional teams as a basic unit in which they are structured in a uni or multidisciplinary way and interdisciplinary professionals and other staff of care organizations.
14. Incorporate the ethical and legal principles of the profession into professional practice as well as integrate social aspects and community in decision making.
15. Participate in the development of physiotherapy care protocols based on scientific evidence, promoting professional activities that stimulate research in physiotherapy.
16. Carry out physiotherapeutic interventions based on the comprehensive health care that the multiprofessional cooperation, integration of processes and continuity of care.
17. Understand the importance of updating the knowledge, abilities, skills and attitudes that make up the professional competences of the physiotherapist.
18. Acquire clinical management skills that include the efficient use of health resources and develop activities planning, management and control in care units where physiotherapy care is provided and its relationship with other health services.
19. Communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing, with the users of the health system as well as with other professionals.
The process of acquiring these skills will be completed with the fourth-year Practicum II subject.
2.2. Learning goals
The student, to pass this course, must demonstrate the following results:
- Know and understand the methods, procedures and physiotherapeutic actions, aimed both at the therapy itself to be applied in the clinic for reeducation or functional recovery, such as Carrying out activities aimed at promoting and maintaining health.
- Acquire the appropriate clinical experience that provides intellectual abilities and technical skills and manuals; that facilitates the incorporation of ethical and professional values; and develop the ability to integration of acquired knowledge; so that, at the end of the studies, the students know apply them both to specific clinical cases in the hospital and out-of-hospital environment, as well as to actions in the primary and community care.
2.3. Importance of learning goals
The learning outcomes of this subject are of special interest since they are essential for the exercise Physiotherapy graduate professional.
3. Assessment (1st and 2nd call)
3.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria)
The student must demonstrate that they have achieved the intended learning outcomes by evaluating clinical practice, divided into two modules.
The care center tutor directs and supervises the student's work. Your daily activity observations, logs, interviews or tests serve to assess the aspects related to the fulfillment of the activities of the Practicum.
Each of the two clinical practice rotaries is evaluated independently. At the end of each round the The student must present a brief MEMORY that is an essential requirement to be evaluated.
The rating for each of the rotaries is from 0 to 10 points. The final grade for the course is the average of these two evaluations. It is a requirement to pass (5 or more points) each of the practice sessions.
4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources
4.1. Methodological overview
The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards the achievement of the learning objectives.
Guided professional practice (assistance and / or administration and / or management), carried out in in-hospital clinics, out-of-hospital, primary and community care, health centers and other settings.
TUTORED CLINICAL PRACTICE: 18 ECTS
4.2. Learning tasks
The program offered to the student to help him achieve the expected results comprises the following activities:
The student will carry out face-to-face practices in the agreed care centers, computing a total of 6 hours daily clinical practice. Throughout the academic year there will be 2 rotations in one of these areas:
1. SPECIALIZED CARE HOSPITAL
2. PRIMARY CARE CENTER
3. NEUROMOTIVE CARE CENTERS
4. MONOGRAPHIC CENTERS
4.3. Syllabus
During the second term of the scholastic year, from January to May, two modules will be organized in which the student will on-site practices in the agreed care centers, computing a total of 6 hours of practice per day clinic.
