4.1. Methodological overview

The course include lectures, active learning, group work, tutorials and practicals sessions.

4.2. Learning tasks

The program that is offered to the student to help him to achieve the expected results includes the following activities:

4.3. Syllabus

BLOCK I. DENTAL PATHOLOGY
SUBJECT 1. Generalities of the subject. Terminology. Reminder of Histology and Dental Anatomy. Dental physiology. Defensive dental processes.
SUBJECT 2. The dental anomalies.
SUBJECT 3. Caries: Definition, physiopathology and etiology.
SUBJECT 4. Caries: Classification and diagnosis. Treatment and prevalence.
SUBJECT 5. Dental destructive processes.
SUBJECT 6. The dental resorption.
SUBJECT 7. Colorations and dental stains.

BLOCK II. OPERATIVE DENTISTRY
SUBJECT 8. Generalities in Opertative Dentistry. Diagnosis, clinical history and treatment planning.
SUBJECT 9. Instrumentation in Operative Dentistry and preparation of operative field (absolute and relative isolation).
SUBJECT 10. General concepts in the preparation of cavities. Selection of the restoring material.
SUBJECT 11. Direct restorations with composite resin. Properties of resin materials. Preparation of cavities for composite resin. Matrices for composite resin. Filling technique and polymerization technique. Polishing of composite resins.
SUBJECT 12. Restorations of Class I in composite resin. Obturation technique. Insertion and polymerization.
SUBJECT 13. Restorations of Class II in composite resin. Obturation technique. Insertion and polymerization.
UNIT 14. Direct restorations with other materials: Glass ionomer cements. Dental amalgam.

 

Pre - clinical sessions

1. Dental anatomy . Review of dental anatomy.

2. Instruments in Operative Dentistry.

3. Isolation of the operating field (2 sessions).

4. Class I Restorations with composite resin (2 sessions).

5. Class II restorations with composite resin (2 sessions).

6. Additional sessions (if required)

4.4. Course planning and calendar

Schedule sessions

Lectures and practice sessions are designed according to the academic calendar of the corresponding course and the class schedule established by the Faculty.
Lectures: Classroom 1 or 2
Preclinical Practice: Dental Laboratory Materials
Clinical practice: Dental Clinic
Seminars: Classroom 1 or 4 (to be confirmed in advance)

The 2019-2020 academic course will begin on 16th September, 2019.
