4.2. Learning tasks

This is a 6 ECTS course organized as follows:

  • Lectures.
  • Practice sessions.
  • Autonomous work and study.
  • Assessment tasks.

4.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

  1. English as an International Language.
  2. The main Standard Varieties of English. Language and nation. Linguistic Symbolic value.
  3. English in North-America. History, diversity and change.
  4. Other varieties: Pidgins and Creoles.
