1. Fundamental linguistic concepts. 1.1. Language, language systems and linguistics. 1.2. The concept of language system understood as a system of symbols organised on different levels. 1.3. Spanish as a historical language. The Spanish-speaking community. Varieties of Spanish. The exemplary rule: exemplary rules.

2. The level of expression. Phonetics and phonology. Sounds and phonemes. 2.1. The production of speech. 2.2. The classification of the sounds of Spanish: vowels and consonants. 2.3. Accent and intonation: suprasegmental features of Spanish. 2.4. Phonological aspects of vowels and consonants in Spanish.

3. The morphological analysis level. Morphology: definition and demarcation. Morphological analysis units. Word classes. 3.1. The noun and its flexive morphemes. The adjective and its flexive morphemes. Descriptive and normative aspects. 3.2. Deixis. The article in Spanish. The pronoun and classes of pronouns in Spanish. Descriptive and normative aspects. 3.3. The verb and its morphemes. Descriptive and normative aspects. 3.4. The adverb, the preposition, the conjunction and the interjection in Spanish.
